DESIGN HUSTLE - Luis Santiago Explores the World of Sneakers with His Brand Kickture

Started in 2014, Kickture has been a place for sneakerheads to dive deeper into the culture they hold dear to their hearts. The platform creates content for the Minnesota sneaker community and beyond–educating, informing and discussing the culture that is sneakers. Kickture has grown its following on instagram to nearly 7,000 followers over the years. It is a known source for sneaker insiders to get up-to-date information on the latest and greatest kicks, history lessons on footwear design, and forecasts on what’s next up.

Diving deeper, Kickture has over 60+ podcast episodes available on Apple podcasts, Soundcloud, and Spotify. The shows last around an hour and feel like barbershop talks between a group of friends who debate their love for sneakers and the culture surrounding it. The team is a diverse group of Sneakerheads (Terrance, Sarah, Dylan, Sam, Adrian and Luis) from the Upper Midwest, each with their own fresh perspectives on the sneaker landscape. To say the conversations get interesting is an understatement. A true sneaker family, arguments and all. If you like sneakers, check Kickture out. You won’t be disappointed.

Growing up, Luis’s love for sneakers propelled him into the design career he currently resides in. When he was around 9 or 10, Luis would draw shoe silhouettes on old green and white printer paper (for the younger folks, it was basically ruled paper with green and white alternating spaces with perforated edges. You get the point.). Luis would do this for hours on end . One day, it sparked a conversation between him and his mother about career paths. That conversation led Luis to pursue a degree in Industrial Design from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, which led to his working on clothing and fashion accessories, becoming a museum/exhibit designer, and the 3D/Retail Designer he is today at Chandler. Although Luis works in retail design, his passion for footwear has never left him. Kickture has allowed him to stay connected to the sneaker world in ways he would have never imagined. If you love sneakers, get in touch with Luis. He’s always open for a chat.
